About this policy
This policy explains how Liverpool History, an independent and unofficial football-history archive available at www.lfchistory.co.uk, handles information when you visit the site or contact the publisher. For the activities described here, Liverpool History is the site publisher and point of contact.
Information you provide
If you email the archive, the publisher receives your email address and any information you include in your message. This information is used only to respond, investigate a correction or manage the correspondence. It is not sold or used to create advertising profiles.
Hosting and delivery: Amazon Web Services
The site is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) using Amazon S3 and Amazon CloudFront. When you request a page or file, AWS receives technical request information that can include your IP address, browser and device information, requested address (including any query string), referrer, approximate location derived from your IP address, and the request date and time. This information is processed to deliver and cache the site, maintain security, diagnose faults and prevent abuse. CloudFront access logging may record individual requests if logging is enabled. Advertising and consent: Google AdSense
Selected research articles load the Google AdSense tag; search, profiles, archive tables, trust pages and sensitive-event coverage do not. A page containing the tag makes a request to Google when it loads even if an advert is not ultimately shown. Google and participating advertising partners may receive the page address, IP address, browser and device information, referrer, approximate location, advertising identifiers and information about advert impressions, interactions and consent choices. They may use cookies, local storage, pixels and similar technologies to deliver, limit, secure, measure and report advertising. Subject to applicable law and your choices, adverts may be personalised or non-personalised.
Google advertising cookies can include first-party cookies such as __gads and __gpi, and third-party cookies such as IDE on Google or DoubleClick domains. Names, purposes and durations can change; availability also depends on your region, browser, Google settings and consent choice. Google says __gads and __gpi currently have a maximum age of 13 months, while some Google advertising cookies may last up to 24 months outside the EEA, United Kingdom and Switzerland. For visitors in the EEA, United Kingdom and Switzerland, the site uses Google’s certified consent management platform. Where consent is required, the platform asks about advertising purposes and partners and stores a consent record so that the choice can be respected. Rejecting personalised advertising does not necessarily prevent contextual adverts, essential anti-fraud processing, or cookieless measurement permitted by Google and applicable law.
Map: OpenStreetMap
The Anfield ground guide contains a map embedded from the OpenStreetMap Foundation (OSMF). The map is lazy-loaded, so your browser normally connects to OSMF only when the map is near the visible part of the page. OSMF may receive your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, request date and time, and the map pages or tiles requested. The embed is configured not to send Liverpool History as the referrer. OSMF processes this information under the OpenStreetMap Foundation Privacy Policy.
Email: Gmail
The contact address is a Gmail mailbox. If you send a message, Google processes the sender and recipient addresses, message content, attachments and delivery metadata to provide and secure the email service. Your own email provider also processes the message. Google's handling of Gmail data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
Cookies, local storage and site search
Liverpool History's own site code does not set first-party cookies and does not write to local storage or session storage. Google AdSense and Google's consent platform may use cookies or similar storage as described above. OpenStreetMap may use its own storage within the embedded map under its policy.
Archive search runs in your browser against a search index hosted with the site. Search terms are not sent to a separate search or analytics provider. The search page places the term in the page address; if you reload, bookmark or share that address, it may be included in ordinary AWS request logs.
The site does not use Google Analytics, social-media tracking pixels, user accounts, newsletter forms, payment services or comment systems.
Your advertising and consent choices
You can revisit the privacy options using the “Privacy and cookie settings” control presented by Google's consent platform when it is available in your region. You may also delete or block cookies and site data in your browser. Blocking storage or third-party content may prevent adverts, the consent control or the embedded map from working as intended. Google provides additional advertising controls through My Ad Center.
Sharing and retention
Information may be shared with AWS for hosting and delivery, with Google and its advertising partners for advertising, consent and email, with OSMF when the embedded map loads, or when required by law. The publisher does not sell contact correspondence. Correspondence is kept only for as long as reasonably necessary to answer the request, maintain an editorial correction record or meet a legal obligation. These service providers apply their own retention periods to information they process.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may ask what personal information the publisher holds about you, request access, correction or deletion, restrict or object to processing, or withdraw consent. Withdrawing consent does not make earlier consent-based processing unlawful. Some information may need to be retained for security, legal or legitimate editorial record-keeping purposes.
