Start with the address
Anfield sits north of Liverpool city centre, beside Stanley Park. It was Everton's home before the dispute that led Everton to leave and Liverpool FC to be formed in 1892. That origin makes the stadium more than a venue added later to the club's story: the available ground was one reason the new club existed at all. Public transport
For matches, use the club's Getting to Anfield page and a live Merseytravel journey planner. Liverpool Lime Street is the mainline rail arrival point. From the city centre, special and ordinary buses serve the stadium area; routes and departure points can change with the event. Sandhills on the Merseyrail Northern Line is a common connection for stadium shuttle services on event days, while Kirkdale offers a walking option. Check the specific fixture's travel notice rather than assuming a concert service runs for a league match.
Anfield is in a residential neighbourhood. Road restrictions, traffic and parking controls make ordinary drive times unreliable around events. The club's tour planning page describes Stanley Park parking for non-matchday tours, but says it is unavailable on Liverpool home matchdays. Plan a different route if you are attending a match.
Liverpool's men's Premier League home tickets are sold through several official routes, including All Red member sales, additional member sales and some local or young-adult ballots. Eligibility depends on the fixture, membership and prior home-match credits; joining a membership does not guarantee a seat. The club publishes each sale's criteria and dates on its home-ticket page. Cup matches, visiting supporters, hospitality and other events can use different arrangements.

The stadium
Liverpool FC's March 2026 access statement gives Anfield's capacity as 61,276. Usable seats can vary with segregation, competition and operational requirements. The four stands are the Kop, Main Stand, Sir Kenny Dalglish Stand and Anfield Road Stand. The Kop's name and culture developed through repeated rebuilding; the Main Stand expansion opened in 2016 and the Anfield Road expansion followed in 2024. Anfield uses digital ticket entry for ordinary home matches. Download and check the ticket or pass before reaching the turnstile, then follow the entrance and gate shown in the official message. Liverpool's home-match guidance describes a no-bag policy with narrow exceptions, such as small A5-or-smaller bags for medicine or hygiene products and club-shop bags. Permitted bags are searched, and the stadium has no luggage storage. Check the current fixture notice and the club's bag and luggage help; tour rules can differ.
Liverpool FC publishes accessible entrances, seating and tour information. Its access statement identifies wheelchair spaces across all four stands and dedicated disability ticketing support. Availability, personal-assistant arrangements, access routes and parking must be checked with the club before booking. Its stadium tours are described as accessible, but visitors with additional requirements should contact the tour team in advance. Use the current club guidance for a specific visit instead of treating a general stadium summary as a booking confirmation.
On non-matchdays, the official tour booking site lists tours, experiences and museum access. Route and room access vary by date and event: a UEFA matchday tour, for example, may omit the dressing rooms and players' tunnel. Check the chosen tour's description, arrival instructions and bag rules before buying. A tour ticket does not admit you to a football match.
